Newest Record from Voodoo Doughnut Recordings!!!

Now available!! On Side A of this Americana-themed split single, National Yodeling Champion Larry Wilder directs his Appalachian yowl toward the lore surrounding Portland’s original Voodoo Doughnut store.

In a pun-filled ballad reminiscent of both “Weird Al” Yankovic and Jimmie Rogers, Wilder spins a tale of true romance and double entendre interspersed with his signature yodel. On Side B, Portland’s beloved Dickel Brothers reunite for a doughnut song of their own. For “Mama’s Sweet Rounds,” the Dickels recorded fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, double bass and vocal parts all at once. The result is rich, holistic and mysterious, as if the song was recorded into a tin can in the 1930s…yet it is just as full of sly references to libidinous practices as the yodel number.

Voodoo Doughnut Recordings will be releasing a new single every month this year, so stay tuned for more….

Voodoo Doughnut Recordings Presents

This just in from Voodoo Doughnut Recordings… Featuring vocalist Max Usata and multi-instrumentalist Igor Stepniewski of Puts Marie and percussionist Lou Caramella of Palko!Muski, Le Onde del Cielo is a new Italian-language electronic project from three heavyweights of the underground Swiss music scene. Recorded in September 2013 in Portland, Oregon and mixed by Jeff Saltzman, Le Onde del Cielo delivers hypnotic, sexy, bass-heavy sounds using a Roland CR-68 drum machine, a Yamaha YC-30 keyboard, a Casiotone CT-6000 keyboard plus guitar, bass and vocals. Max Usata (aka Miro Caltagirone) sings depraved tales of melancholy and obsession in a rich, textured voice that brings to mind a young Tom Waits (if he had been singing in Italian) and Adriano Celentano. What were these Swiss doing in Portland, working with legendary producer Jeff Saltzman? The story is as improbable as the resulting release from Voodoo Doughnut Recordings!
